OPSEU/SEFPO Makes History: Equity Board Members Selected!

We’re so excited to share the results of our union’s Equity Board Seats selection process with you! This is a historic moment for OPSEU/SEFPO. Our union is blazing a trail when it comes to equity leadership positions.

This has been over a decade in the making. Stemming from recommendations from the Social Mapping Project – pushed for and steered by the Coalition of Racialized Workers (CoRW) – to the fight to pass a Constitutional Amendment for 7 Equity Board Seats at the 2023 Convention to the Board Equity Committee (BEC) dedicating countless hours to ensure a fair and equitable process.

Equity Board Seats will allow OPSEU/SEFPO to meet the member-led demands for representation on the Executive Board that reflects the diversity of our membership. OPSEU/SEFPO is dedicated to anti-racism and anti-oppression. Ensuring that our Executive Board is reflective of our membership is a critical step on the path to becoming a more equitable and inclusive union that works for everyone.

A massive thank you to everyone who stepped up and to all the participants.  To the candidates who were successful, we know you will represent our union and members well.
